Hill Top Haven Farm is located in Strange Creek, West Virginia. Owned and operated by Dr. Ross and Chris Young, with the help of their son Russell Young, and Australian Cattle Dog, Si. The Young’s have 4 other children who are all married with children, and some even have farms of their own. Hill Top Haven Farm contains around 250 acres of land, most of it forest. Some would say it's small in comparison to some other operations, but the quality of cattle produced can compete anywhere.

With limited acreage for pasture and hay fields the farms has incorporated using hybrid grasses such as Tritical and high nutrition seed like Pro-ton, which allows us to keep a higher number of cattle on a smaller amount of ground. We sell heifers and bulls through cattle evaluations tests which last from late fall to early spring, and also sell many cows by Private Treaty here at the farm.

Originally a pure bred Simmental herd, the Young’s started to incorporate Gelbvieh genetics around 1987. Impressed with the quality that the breed brought to the herd, they started plans to breed into a purebred Gelbvieh operation. The farm also contains a real advantage because of its full time on hand Veterinarian. Ross Young graduated from Ohio State University with his D.V.M. degree in 1975. He and Chris own and operate Central W.V. Animal Hospital in Gassaway, West Virginia. Russell is beginning his senior year at West Virginia University to receive his B.S. in Animal Vet. Sciences.
